KINNGAIT SUITE, 2019-2020

The project

My photographs are a visual record of my community, its evolution, its changes, its successes and challenges. The Inuit way of life is very different now than it was in my earliest memories, which is why I began to take photos of the things around me – to make sure that history was captured. Today, there are many reasons that the Inuit voice is important, culturally, politically and geographically. Right now, Kinngait is a place that is on the forefront of environmental change, I see this every day. My photography is documenting the land and the sea and how it’s becoming affected by our new climate and ecological realities.
