Louis COUTURIER & Jacky G. LAFARGUE

The project

Terre d’amiante. The Couturier/Lafargue duo explored the mine of the town of Asbestos, camping there for four days. This gigantic sinkhole is the result of over a hundred year of mining activity.

La Beauté de la destruction. From 1953 to 2003, the exploitation of a copper deposit on the outskirts of the Gaspésie National Park created a micro-desert that the duo wandered through for ten or so days.

Bouger la mémoire. Made out of hoops from a derelict paper mill and endowed with interactive lighting, this practicable work allies history and technology. Five years were needed to complete its implantation of the shores of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence in Haute-Gaspésie.
