IKEA, 2020

The project

The photos depict the different displays of curtains in an IKEA store, that uses back-lit colour images of urban and residential scenes to give a context for the products on sale. These images are changed seasonally to depict for example, snow on the ground in winter and trees and flowers in the summertime.

I was attracted to the simple representation of space, with a view from a domestic interior. For many different reasons, we have all looked out of a window.

These images present an open-ended narrative and can function as a contemporary metaphor during these extraordinary times of isolation and sensory deprivation.
